Lucas Farm Fresh, LLC

Lucas Farm Fresh, LLC is a black, veteran-owned farm in Montgomery County. The owner, Charles Lucas, is an active member in the farming community, serving on the Soil and Water Board, Farm Bureau Board, and Voluntary Agricultural District Board. Charles has owned his farm since the mid to late 70’s and has always had a love for the land. Hardships and struggles brought him away from the land until his return in 2008 after learning about high tunnel production.

Charles runs a market off his property that is open to vendors in the area to help provide a space for fresh, local produce to be sold to the community.

Through his efforts over the years, Charles managed to achieve the place as first runner-up for the 2022 A&T University Small Farmer of the Year Award.
