1870 Farm is an award winning educational farm located in the heart of Chapel Hill. The farm offers day and overnight camps, as well as the the Junior Vet Academy which takes place at 1870 Farm and the UNC campus. The farm has summer camp programs for kids ages 3-15 from mid June until Mid August.

Ancient Spring Farm is an eco-friendly small farm in Snow Camp, North Carolina. We sell pasture-raised eggs and diverse, regeneratively grown vegetables, fruits, flowers, herbs, nuts, plants, and other farm-made crafts and products at local farmers markets, and direct from the farm by appointment. This is our 16th year growing SHIITAKE mushrooms.  We grow them outdoors on natural logs following a 3,000 year old technique.  We have sold over 9 TONS of shiitake mushrooms.  Once inocculated with mushroom spawn the logs will continue to produce for 5 to 10 years.  We currently have 13,500 logs stacked over a 3 acre spot in the deep, dark and damp woods.  These mushroom grow between 35 and 85 degrees and are dormant in the summer months.  However we almost always have dried mushrooms available year round.  These rehydrate readily and plump back up like fresh. Our 20-acre farm operates within Chestnut Ridge Camp & Retreat Center, where we manage a year-round community garden and provide programming for the camp’s after-school, preschool, homeschool, summer camp and retreat programs. We also host seasonal events, including a pumpkin patch, Pollinator Day, Midsummer Festival and Mother’s Day picnics. The Farm at West Prong Acres is an exclusive, 14-acre, family-owned and operated farm located along the Newport River.
